This holiday season gather your craftiest gals and guys for a merry makers’ holiday party! Tis the season to be creative after all! Today, we’re offering plenty of tips (and even a fun craft) to help you throw a memorable holiday crafting party!
Invitations
Set the theme for your craft party, with printed, personalized invitations. Begin by choosing a design that personifies the party atmosphere. Will it be a quiet crafting get together or are you planning a feisty fiesta filled with good food, great drinks, and plenty of crafty fun?
Add a competitive element to your invitation!
Set the stage for your holiday festivities, by adding a competitive element to your invites! For example, you could include a blank Fabric Transfer Sheet with your invitation along with instructions asking guests to create a funny t-shirt or apron that best represents their crafting style. Then, ask them to wear their creation to the party. You can even award a prize to the guest with the most creative creation!
Plan Crafting Stations
Once you’ve determined the craft project to be featured during your party (more about that later), it’s time to stock up on supplies! A good way to keep costs and mess down is to create different crafting stations around your party space. With a crafting station, you can buy larger containers of essentials like paint or glue and provide guests with smaller containers to dole out individual portions.
To Create each station, cover different tables with layers of disposable tablecloths, tarps, or any other surface protector. Then add instructional signage and supplies pertaining to each station.
Here are a few different crafting stations to consider:
- Painting Stations: Purchase Bottles of Paint in different colours, along with plastic palettes (available in most dollar stores). Then place a sign in a visible spot on the table, instructing guests to fill their palette with the paint colours they want to use. Don’t forget to add a large cup filled with brushes.
Pro Tip: Opt for water-based paints; they are typically non-toxic and easy to clean up with soap and water!
- Glue Stations: If you will be using crafting glue, opt for the largest container and offer guests small, disposable cups that they can fill. When crafting with hot glue, ensure that your gluing station is in a safe place, where the glue guns cannot be knocked over or accidentally nudged. Don’t forget to display signage reminding guests that those glue guns and glue are both extremely hot!
- Print and Design Stations: If printable craft items like static cling labels or fabric transfers will be part of your crafting night, it’s a good idea to inform guests that they may want to bring a laptop or tablet, in addition to setting up a laptop and printer in your party room. This way multiple people can design and print at the same time.
Favours
4x6 sheets of labels, tiny paint palettes and markers are always appreciated by crafters. You can even add some wrapped candies or another treat to go with it.
Craft Project Ideas
Now, for the main event, the craft projects! You can plan to feature one large project, or offer 2 – 3 quick and easy projects for guests to make and take home. Popular holiday crafts, like making personalized stockings, vinyl-adorned wine glasses, and custom ornaments are always a big hit!
